‘One day I discovered that roses could talk’ Henry Delbar
Today, a fascinating rose by Henry Delbar arrived on my site. It belongs to the “Les Grands Parfums” collection which, together with Souvenirs d’Amour, brings together varieties that reflect the scent of French roses. Absolutely extraordinary and mysterious, the latest specimen from the Provence Fair literally bewitched me with its fragrance. A true perfumery fragrance. There is vanilla, citrus, powdery tenderness and exoticism. The French grandmothers immediately “zashikal” my husband who was evaluating the cactus “Never argue with a woman, buy her this rose”.

A flower with a broad spectrum of sunny hues, whose bud, when fully open, resembles the birth of a solar galaxy, but whose fragrance can rival the princes and kings of modern perfumery. This rose is showy and brilliant, but very delicate and welcoming: the central fans of the bud are full of colour, but framed by a pinkish layer of thin petals. In the early morning, this rose may seem a little shy compared to its beauty.
The flower is large, with many petals, and exudes a delicate scent with notes of citrus and mango. At its peak, it reminds me of Dolce & Gabana. Towards evening, the scent becomes more intimate and powdery, perhaps reminiscent of vintage Cacharel.

When creating a varietal fragrance, the Delbar brothers are guided by a special system developed with the help of a perfumer consultant, the “perfume pyramid”. The fragrance of a rose consists of a traditional pyramid: a short top note, followed by heart and base notes.

Repeated flowering. Dark green foliage, shiny and very resistant to disease. Bush height 0.8-1 m. Suitable for cutting, fragrant bouquets can last up to 10 days.

Choice of location
These roses should be grown in a sunny location, as they do not grow well in the shade. We place our beautiful rose on the terrace in front of the bedroom window. In this way, on the one hand, the plant is protected from the winds, which are well known in our seaside town. In other words, the place or balcony must be well ventilated, but at the same time protected from strong winds and draughts. Roses do not like humidity, while dryness and heat can lead to diseases. For planting, choose fertile, well-drained and neutral soil.
Aroma characteristics.
The first evening it seemed to us that our rose had lost some of its scent in a new place, but after a few days, with the opening of the new buds, the aroma of the terrace penetrated the rooms and, when we returned home, we could smell it as soon as we entered the corridor …..
